About Our Firm

RMS LAW FIRM is rising general law firm in Rwanda which was created in 2017. RMS has a strong reputation for its work in corporate & commercial, corporate governance, immigration, energy, natural resources and infrastructure, tax, capital markets, banking and credit, executive compensation, mergers & acquisitions, and white-collar defense. RMS counsels both public and private entities and handle sensitive investigation, litigation matters and alternative dispute resolution. With an ample knowledge of Rwandan legal system and its sister systems in the East African Community and Central Africa, RMS has developed original and groundbreaking solutions and innovations that had a huge impact on society, business, and law. John Muhunde Rwakayija, Managing Partner

Leonard SEBUCENSHA is a Senior Partner at the RMS LAW FIRM Limited, an academic, a consultant and lawyer who adopts an inter-disciplinary approach in his work (combining law and good governance). He has experience in both Private and Public Law (with a strong focus on immigration law, corporate & commercial law, energy, infrastructure and natural resources, corporate governance and employment law). He has specific expertise in teaching and research in Financial Law and Social Law. He has been practicing Law as an Advocate since 2011 where he handled multiple complex cases involving corporate and employment matters, energy  and infrastructure, financial institutions, contracting, etc. and served high profile clientele including the WCS, Om Metals Infraprojects Ltd, King Faisal Hospital, Touch Africa Investments Ltd, ATX Technology Ltd, etc. He is a well-known consultant in law and legal drafting where he recently developed the Law on biological diversity in Rwanda as one of his major projects and the Statutes, Internal Regulations and Manual of Administrative and Financial Procedures of the CEB.

He has also been teaching at the University of Rwanda since 2009 where he is currently the Industrial Attachment Coordinator and a Lecturer of Laws. He has also been a Trainer at the Institute of Legal Practice and Development since 2013 and a Trainer at the Rwanda Bar Association. He has been working with iCPAR as an examiner, reviewer, and marker since 2013.

Leonard SEBUCENSHA holds a Master’s (LL.M) in Business Law cum laude and a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree cum laude from the National University of Rwanda, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development, and a Certificate leading to ACiArb from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the United Kingdom.
